TDS, formerly Baja Broadband, which provides telephone, internet and cable services to Mesquite and surrounding areas held their open house at the office located at 146 N. Sandhill Blvd. on Saturday, Nov. 21.
“We started out with over a hundred subs and ran out so we had to get more. It’s been surprisingly busy,” Sales person Bianca Sosa said about the open house that saw quite a few people between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
People who attended the open house could enter into a drawing for the chance to win a 40 inch television. A spin of the wheel offered the chance for other prizes from flashlights to blankets. Everybody was treated to a free lunch which included a six inch Subway sandwich, bag of chips and choice of beverage.
Music for the event was provided by the very talented musician Kevin Auernig who performed a wide variety of old time hits. A professional caricature artist, Mary Hatton, was also drawing free portraits for anybody who wanted one.
TDS Sales Manager, Arbree Trauntvein said, “We are so happy with the turnout and the fact that we are able to relaunch our new CatchTV, which is our whole home DVR system. We’re basically trying to make people aware that we’ve rebranded and we’re not Baja anymore. I’m pleasantly overwhelmed by the public response.”
TDS who has 31 locations nationwide took over Baja Broadband approximately a year ago according to Trauntvein and they rebranded as TDS in August. Trauntvein said she is very pleased that so many Mesquite residents were able to receive all of their new information on Saturday and eagerly chatted about the plans for TDS to update in-home services to a fiber optic network that could provide Mesquite residents with up to 1GB on their internet speed.
