Bulldog power forward Alexis Boatright saved her best for the final period as she had the first 9 points to lead the Dawgs to a 43-29 victory over previously unbeaten 3A Sunrise League opponent, Boulder City High School Thursday night on the hill. Boatright finished the game with 14 points and dominated the boards in the fourth period.

The Bulldogs came out with a controlled offense and defense to lead from start to finish. The Dawgs led 9-6 after one period with freshman Riley Price leading the way with 4 points. The Bulldogs maintained their lead behind three balls from Nathalie Lagamayo and freshman Brooklin Montoya. The Bulldogs led 18-14 at the break but the lead could have been greater except for some unforced turnovers. The Dawgs took a 10 point lead early in the third period 26-16 before the Eagles rallied to cut the lead to 28-24 after three periods. Excellent passing off the hands of Kalli Garrett set up numerous shots underneath by Boatright. Boatright went 9-10 from the line down the stretch, countering every shot by the Eagles. The win gives the Bulldogs a 3-2 record in Sunrise League play.

The Lady Dawgs finished the week with a 56-28 demolishing of Del Sol High School Friday night in Las Vegas. Lagamayo led the Dawg scorers with 14 points followed by Areli Ponce and Price with 10 points each. The Dawgs trailed 12-9 after one period but went on an offensive run in the second period outscoring the Dragons 24-7 to take a 33-19 lead at the break and didn’t look back. The Lady Dawgs travel to Chaparral and Sky Pointe this week before returning to face archrival Moapa Valley on Tuesday Jan. 28.
