The joys of socialism are everywhere; some people just cannot see them. Think about free college, freedom to do the things you like for as long as you like even if it provides no value to anyone else. Just the thought of all the free time, time to travel, time for sports, time to pursue artistic endeavors. Free medical care, free drugs, (whatever kind you like).
That is the dreams of socialism and they are all true and available to a few, as long as the people who produce wealth that can be taken away from them, so the few can have a great life. That great life starts at the top, the ruling class and then begins the trickle-down effect. First in line are the ruling class and their fellow-travelers, then the enforcers who make it possible.
Yes there are those who do not like the idea, like the producers who do not like what they earned taken away to give to someone who’s not producing anything. But they miss the point of helping others who are not as fortunate as to having great ideas and being able to work at putting those ideas into something successful.
There have been these resisters in other countries that have implemented socialism but they have been dealt with and progress continues. Sometimes some people try to leave and not contribute their share and so we have to restrain them. The good news is that if we make examples of a few that sends a signal to the rest of the people. Yes, there have been some excesses in some places but here in America we are smarter and will make it work.
Think of the joy of it all, no more struggling to pay bills, no more pressure to do more, only more free stuff. Still some say it will not work and it has not worked other places, they are so wrong. The problem is some may not want to work hard to give their earning to others but that’s just taxes. We may not have enough to pay for all this free stuff, we have the printing presses do we not?
So there it is our future, we turn away from the path we have been following for 250 years to find a better life for those less fortunate and those who guide us along. Too long have we forced people to work hard to get ahead and now we can all coast. Capitalism has been good up to a point but we are now past that point. Too many people have started with nothing and became millionaires or some even billionaires without sharing the fruits of their labors with those who are not as industrious.
Why should those who work hard and have great ideas not share their wealth with the rest of us so we can peruse our interests and dreams without having to work for them? Someone once said the democracies only last about 200 years and I guess our time is up.
Alexander Tyler said: “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to a loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”
WHAT the hell do we do when the money runs out . IF no one works we will be like CUBA BROKE .!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIGHT ON POINT! Beto Thinks he can stop asteroids while smoking pot on a skateboard. AOC is telling our children the world will end in 12 years and wants to ban cows. Omar is an outright racist. No matter who the president is you do NOT refer to him as not human.
You are right Mike. We are now in the beginning of the Trump dictatorship. Congress does not provide money for a needless wall and Trump takes the money anyway. After all, Trump has friends in the military, law enforcement, and in biker gangs and they will do whatever it takes to keep Trump in power. The 2020 election goes against Trump? Not to worry, his friends will go to the mat for him. Not bad for a person who never wanted to be President in the first place.
well Mike you and AOC can have socialism, not for me
A partial list of why we should be afraid of socialism: FDIC (bank account insurance), consumer bank protection, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Tri-Care (military insurance), CHIP (children’s healthcare insurance),work week regulations, vacations, paid sick leave, public power grids, interstate highways, public libraries, public schools, postal service, common monetary system, national armed services, farm support, environmental protections (clean air and water–rivers that don’t burn due to industrial dumping, etc., etc, etc.. Capitalism is alive and well, but it has limits and those limits are clear when, as Harry Truman described the nay-sayers as “socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.” Socialism and capitalism are economic and not government systems. Our economic system has been a capitalist/socialist hybrid for all of our nearly 250 years. Yes, as we’ve gotten more populated, the social programs have increased. Capitalism’s limits become clearer with more population. If you don’t want government ownership and control of ice cream production or pizza delivery, shout it out loud and clear and I’ll be right with you. But, when it comes to healthcare insurance and how the banks control our money, I want a base of 320 million or so in a united front to be sure they are managed fairly for all.
Terry – Almost all of those things you listed have come in the last 100 years. thongs like the monetary system and military do not seem to be socialist programs and of course the libraries were a Capitalist gift until recently.. What is been proposed by Burnee, AOC and others is revolutionary. Force people to go on Medicare, totally open boarders, support illegals and tax the people who bring us the wealth and give it to people who do nothing. Not what our Founding Fathers had in mind.
Out of over 65,000,000 Democrats, there are about 2-3 admitted socialists. Your broad brush is way too broad. I would guess that your side has many more white supremacists. Besides, we Democrats pay far more in taxes than your robber baron friends. I for one pay way more in taxes than our president. And we are not in favor of open borders. The southern border has never been as secure as it is now. Your “crisis” is the latest method to stir up your base, the old white guys.
