The Mesquite Desert Dogs continued to feast in front of their home crowd Wednesday Jan 30 defeating the San Diego Wave 115-107. Six Dogs went double figures for the game to make up for the lack of offense from their leading scorer Tyrone Criswell. Brandon Mitchell led the Dogs offensive output with 29 points followed by 23 points from Don Muepo and 20 points from Darius Stewart. Steven Maxwell added 13 points, Dushone Brown 12 points and point guard Jonathon Lloyd finished with 10 points. Stewart led the Dogs with 16 rebounds followed by Muepo with 14. The Dogs fell back early in the game trailing 51-48 after one half of play. The Dogs continued to stay with the Wave taking a one point lead 81-80 going into the fourth period. The Dogs stretched their lead after one half of the fourth and finished with a flourish 115-107. Montigo Alford and Bernard Edwards led the Wave with 23 and 22 points respectively. The Dogs dominated points on turnovers 25-15 and points in the paint 70-32 to insure the win. The Mesquite squad will test their mettle going on the road for the next five games traveling to San Diego, before three games against Albany, Jamestown and New York. The Dogs will return on February 13 for a six game home stand.
