The Virgin Valley High School girl soccer team seems to be peaking at the right time as they demolished two 3A opponents this past week. The Bulldogs rolled over Sky Pointe 6-1 and Chaparral 8-0 giving Bulldog coach Scott Trimming a chance to give all his young squad an opportunity to gain playing experience down the stretch. Striker Rainee Brito had the ‘Hat Trick’ (three goals) in the win over the Eagles. Dani Correa and Jaymie Hulet each added a goal in the win. Natalia Zarate had two assists for the Lady Dawgs.

The Bulldogs came out firing on all cylinders Thursday night Oct.4 on the hill against Chaparral scoring early and often. The pink clad Dawgs, for Breast Awareness Month, dominated the Cowboys from start to finish. Raeanna Slack struck goal at the two minute mark, added another on a header off a beautiful pass from Dani Correa to make the score 2-0. Sarah Barnum scored goal midway through the first period as the Dawgs continued to press the Cowboys. Karyme DeSantiago followed with another goal at the 25 minute mark upping the Dawgs lead to 4-0. Five minutes later Hulet got the ‘Hat Trick’ scoring her third goal in the first half of play. Coach Trimming began group substitutions the rest of the half. The Bulldog offense continued to attack the Cowboys goal as Ally Wright and Dani Correa struck goals in the first two minutes. Wright would strike her second goal minutes later to end a dominating game for the Bulldogs. Correa ended up with two assists in addition to her goal and Erin Ofori got the shutout. “Our girls payed excellent soccer,” said coach Trimming. “Our defense stopped attacks the middle third controlled the majority of the game where the girls were able to exploit the defensive line of Chaparral. The girl’s finished most of their shots to come away with the win. “The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-1 in 3A Sunrise League play.

Bulldog Boy’s continue to struggle

On the boy’s side the Bulldogs fell to Sky Pointe 3-1 and Chaparral 7-0 to make their 3A Sunrise League record 0-5. Bulldog striker Cristian Martinez got his first goal of the year in the loss to the Eagles. Six Cowboys struck goal in their win over the Dawgs as the Dawgs could not stay with Chaparral. The Boys travel to Boulder City and the girls host the Eagles on Monday Oct.8.
