Fred McElroy has been appointed president of the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) Sierra Nevada Chapter, after serving as the president elect for the local chapter. Recent changes to the organization at the national level determined that there would no longer be two chapters in Nevada. McElroy had been working closely with the Las Vegas chapter all year and during the transition he became the obvious choice to run the organization for the state with both chapters in agreement.
The installation of the state officers took place at the national meeting of the National Association of Realtors, held in San Diego, Nov. 13-16. Representatives for most of the states were present, where organization and learning sessions also took place.
“It’s an honor to serve as the state president for the Council of Residential Specialists and we have great plans for Nevada in 2016,” said McElroy, a Reno REALTOR who has held the CRS certification since 1991. Only 3.5 percent of real estate agents in the United States hold the CRS certification.
The other state officers are: Vice Chair: Shawn Cunningham, RE/MAX Advantage, Las Vegas; Regional Leader North – Guy Johnson, Keller Williams Group One, Reno; Regional Member South – Debbie Tuttle, Keller Williams Realty, Henderson; Finance Leader: Brandon Park, Mesquite Realty, Mesquite: Web Administrator: Sierra Davis, Blu World Inpsired; Education Leader: Elizabeth Watson, RE/MAX Realty Affiliates, Reno; Membership Leader: Wende Bell, Berkshire Hathaway, Las Vegas; Administrator: Jana Wiersma, RE/MAX Realty Affiliates, Reno.
“It’s never easy to transition from having separate chapters to having one chapter in a state like Nevada that has so much distance between its main population centers, but we have worked together this last year to bring our chapters together and agree on one vision for the state,” explained McElroy. “Meetings will continue in both locations but planning will take place with one set of officers and meetings.”
McElroy has been a licensed REALTOR since 1986, currently working at Dickson Realty, established in 1973 and leaders in the luxury market. He has held numerous positions in his professional organizations and is a past president of the Reno Sparks Association of Realtors. He specializes in residential investment, relocation, first time homebuyers and property management.
“I’d like to encourage everyone to attend our 31st Annual CRS Holiday Gala Fashion Show at the Atlantis Hotel & Spa Friday Dec 4. It’s a fabulous event and this year the proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club,” said McElroy.
