The GAS Club played the Falcon Ridge Golf Course last Monday in a mini-challenge tournament with an interesting format for the five participating teams. The first three holes were in shamble format, the second three as a scramble and the last three as best ball led to some very low scores.

Two teams turned in a score of 29 for the nine holes, which is six under par. But after the handicaps came into play, the winning team of Dave Jordan, Lee Stevens, Greg Szydel and Roy Lende won the tournament by six-tenths of a stroke over the second place team of Doug Lund, Bill Losh, Alex Churchich and Mike Moreau.

Four and a half strokes separated all five teams, with low net going to Jim Buttler.

The closest to the pin prizes went to Buttler for holes #2 and #8 and Lund on hole #5. There were six individual skins awarded to Bob Chambers, Buttler, John Johnson, Ben Bishop, Szydel and Larry Mierisch.

Buttler commented on a sad moment for the players as they learned that a good friend and part of the Falcon Ridge team, Lew Chamberlain, had passed away recently. “The check-in desk will never be the same,” he said.
