58 Bowlers laced up their bowling shoes and dusted off their bowling balls to participate in the First Annual Mesquite Elks Lodge #2811 Bowling Tournament.

The event was held at the Virgin River Hotel & Casino Bowling Center.  In addition to prizes awarded to the winners, a number of great door prizes were given out, along with a 50/50 drawing and a several side pots for bowlers to showcase their skills in.  Nearly $800 in proceeds from the tournament will help fund the various community programs sponsored by the Mesquite Elks Lodge.

The winners of Game 1 were:  Scratch – Tony VanGestel with a score of 203; Handicap – Keith Jones with a score of 227; and Ladies – Darlene Carpenter who scored 254.

The 2nd Game winners were:  Scratch – Ray Schultz with a score of 236; Handicap – Ray Schultz at 276; and Ladies – Carrie Polychronis with a score of 264.

In the 3rd Game it was:  Scratch – Darwin Wimer who scored 234; Handicap – Jim Blanco at 256; and Ladies – Darlene Carpenter again with a score of 242

In the team event, the winning team was:  Jim Garner, Teresa Garner, Ray Schultz and Ted Mickelson with a combined score of 2686.  In Second Place were:  Dennis Baylor, Kathy Baylor, Carrie Polychronis, and Scott Polychronis with a score of 2642.

A Special Team prize went to:  Mike Rechcygiel, Barb Rechcygiel, Rocky Curtis and Linda Curtis.
