The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldog softball team fell behind 6-0 Tuesday after three and a half innings of play to the Miners from Sunrise Mountain High School before rallying to score three runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 6-3. Savannah Price started the inning being hit by the Miners pitcher, Taylor Barnum followed with a hit and Janella Fiso drove them in with a double. Fiso scored shortly thereafter on a Miners fielding error.

The Miners added three more runs in the fifth on a home run by pitcher Andrea Garner. The Dawgs countered with one run in their half of the inning but trailed 9-4. The Bulldogs managed four singles in the inning but could only score the one run. The Bulldogs added a run in the sixth inning but the Miners were not to be denied with two more runs of their own in the top of the seventh to win easily 11-5. Bulldog pitcher Adri Wakefield pitched a complete game but defensive mental lapses by the Dawgs were her downfall. Fiso led the Dawgs with two hits including a double. The Dawgs travel to Del Sol on Thursday before hosting Indian Springs on Friday and Tech on Monday, April 13. The Dawgs’ record now stands at 2-4 in Sunrise League play and 3-16 overall.
