The game Tuesday night featured two teams with only one win apiece for the season. The Bulldogs came in with a 1-14 record and the Miners from Sunrise Mountain stood at 1-9. The Miners rallied in the third inning to take the lead 5-3 and went on to double their season win total to two games. Errors by both teams were critical as a high wind made catching a fly ball difficult. There were no earned runs in the game and the Dawgs managed three runs on only one hit.

The Miners got on the board in the top of the first with two runs. Bulldog pitcher Marcello Lara reached first on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scored on a wild pitch. A potential Bulldog rally was snuffed when a Bulldog runner was thrown out easily on an attempted double steal. The Bulldogs took the lead in the second inning scoring two runs on a hit batter and two Miners errors. The Dawgs could not hold the 3-2 advantage giving up three runs in the third inning and one more in the fifth. Freshman Cade Anderson came on in relief for the Dawgs in the fourth and pitched well. The Miners’ 6-3 victory moved them one game ahead of the Dawgs in 1-A Sunrise League play.

The Dawgs travel to Del Sol on Thursday before returning on Monday to host Tech.
