The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldog soccer squad traveled 250 miles to compete in an annual soccer tournament in Ely (Nevada) over this past Labor Day weekend. The Lady Dawgs swept the competition winning all three games while shutting out their opponents in all three matches.  The Dawgs opened tournament play shutting out host White Pine County2-0. Reanna Slack and Sarah Barnum struck goal on assists by Slack and Rainee Brito. Goalkeeper Erin Ofori had three assists and pitched the shutout.

Game two was a replica of the first match as the Lady Dawgs defense shut down Pershing County 3-0. Scoring goal for the Dawgs were Slack, Paola Garcia and Natalia Zarate. Assisting were Brito, Jaymie Hulet and Kacie Garrett. Ofori had a save and the shutout.

Game three saw most of the Bulldog starters scoring points in a blowout of Battle Mountain High School. The Dawgs put up 8 goals while shutting down the Northern Nevada team. Hitting single goals for the champion Bulldogs were Josselyn Hernandez, Erin Ofori, Zoey Tobler and Alley Wright. Brito and Slack added two goals each to lead the team in scoring. Adding assists were Tobler, Hulet, Garcia, Shaner and Adison Snyder. “I brought 18 girls to the tournament”, said head coach Scott Trimming. “The girls played very well scoring 13 goals to their opponents 0. They bonded while getting to know each other better and working on their individual roles and responsibilities.”

The Bulldogs travel to Doral Academy and Pahrump Valley September 4 and 10 respectively. The Lady Bulldogs will open Sunrise League play on September 12 against Sky Pointe.
