On 4/18/19 at approximately 10:20 a.m. Mesquite Dispatch received a call about a man who jumped out of a ninth floor window of the Casablanca Casino Hotel and was still alive. The Mesquite Police Department and Mesquite Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
A Mesquite Police Officer was first to arrive and spoke to the man who was conscious and breathing. Mesquite Fire Rescue began lifesaving efforts and due to the extent of his injuries, he was transported by Mercy Air to the nearest trauma center.
The investigating officers worked with casino Security and were able to determine the man rented a hotel room on the ninth floor. Officers discovered his hotel room had been damaged but found no indication anybody had been in the room with him. They also determined the man broke into a maintenance closet that was near his room, forced the window open, and jumped out. The officers were not immediately able to determine if the man’s actions were caused by drugs, alcohol, or a mental health issue.
Due to the sensitive nature of investigating a possible attempted suicide, the Mesquite Police Department is not releasing the man’s identity. The man’s condition is also not currently known.
