Straight out of the Coral Desert in Southern Utah, the Native Grass Band is known for their ability to write entertaining original songs and tunes in a unique and distinctive style.  Native Grass will be “In Concert” at the Mesquite Community Theater on Saturday February 23 @  7 p.m.

Native Grass has thrilled audiences at major venues such as the Kayenta Arts Theater in Ivins UT, Logandale Nevada Bluegrass Festival, KARMA Fest, The Electric Theater in St. George, Blythe CA Bluegrass Festival, North Event Center in Orderville UT, and more.

Walter Josey on Mandolin and Lead Vocal is the principal song writer for Native Grass.  “I try to let the music sorta come out of the air, and then try and get to a piece of paper and my mandolin as fast as I can, before I forget the words and melody”, says Walter.  He adds, “I’ve lived most of my life in the Southwest, which has influenced the themes of the music that I combine in a Bluegrass style”.

JD Thompson holds down the bottom on Bass.  JD has played Bass in a variety of bands and styles.  Most recently in a Costa Rican Country Band as he spent 6 years hanging out in that Central American country.  He adds a “one-of-kind Bass” styling to the Native Grass Band sound.

Dave Holder was a revelation the day he showed up and asked to sit in on a Native Grass Band performance.  His “high and lonesome” tenor voice along with solid rhythm and inspired flat picking virtuosity on Guitar put such an impact on the original compositions, he joined Native Grass and never looked back.

Lindsey Short is the best “unknown” musical talent in the Southwest.  Lindsey is a multi-instrumentalist of equal ability on 5 instruments.  She lays her thumb into the Banjo for Native Grass and her angelic voice elevates the 3-part harmony of the group.

Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the concert, or at the on-line website of the Mesquite Community Theater http://www.mctnv.com/ or call the ticket office 702-345-4499.  The Mesquite Community Theater is located on 150 North Yucca Street in Mesquite, NV.
