The Virgin Valley High flag football team enters the holiday break in a three-way tie for first place in the 3A Southern League standings.

The Lady Bulldogs disposed of Valley, 26-0, and Sunrise Mountain, 38-6, before taking semester finals prior to the holidays.

Virgin Valley, which has now won five straight since losing to top-ranked Green Valley, improved to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in league play. Boulder City and Del Sol Academy are also 5-0 in league. The Lady Bulldogs will face both teams, along with rival Moapa Valley, in their first three games coming back from the break in January.

In the victory over Valley in Las Vegas, Shaylee Feltner rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown to power the Lady Bulldogs. Nikita Eskelsen also ran for a score while picking up 42 yards on nine carries while Rainee Brito added 69 yards on 10 carries.

Quarterback Ally Wright completed 8-of-15 passing attempts for 84 yards including a touchdown pass to Autumn Boatright.

Nataly Serna led the VVHS defense with seven flag pulls while Salma Villalobos had five. Feltner and Alley Shaner each recorded a quarterback sack.

In the win over Sunrise Mountain, the Lady Bulldogs rushed for 360 yards and four touchdowns. Eskelsen led the way with 130 yards on 14 carries and scored on runs of six and five yards. Brito also scored twice on two 10-yard runs while picking up 69 yards on 11 carries. Feltner added 88 yards on 19 carries.

Wright completed 9-of-22 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns. The junior connected with Taylor Marshall for 15 yards for one score and Boatright for 10 yards on the other.

Macie Bowler, Julia Ramirez and Shaner had four flag pulls apiece to lead the defense.

Virgin Valley will return to action Jan. 9 when the Lady Bulldogs travel to Overton to face rival Moapa Valley.
