The Mesquite Rotary Club will hold its 2nd Annual 5K Glow-in-The-Dark Fun Run and 12th Annual Ball Drop at the Rising Star Sports Ranch on Saturday, September 29th.

The 5K Run/Walk starts the evening off at 7:00 pm beginning and ending behind the Rising Star Sports Ranch. Check-in for the event begins at 5:30 pm. The entry fee for individuals is $30 or enter a 4-person team for $100 and be the first over the finish line. Registration for the Run/Walk is being handled by the City of Mesquite Recreation Center. Maps of the run route may also be found at the Rec Center office.

Following the race will be Rotary’s 12th Annual “Glow in The Dark” Ball

Drop when illuminated numbered balls are hoisted in the air and let go to drop onto a platform with ten holes. The ball falling into or closest to each of the number holes wins a wonderful prize with the first ball to fall into the #1 hole winning the grand prize of $1,000 cash! Tickets for chances to Win are $20 each or 6 for $100 and can be purchased from any Rotary member in advance or at the event.

Rotary is a service organization helping to make improvements in its local service area, with emphasis on assisting our local food bank, helping to ensure all young students can read by the third grade, recognizing and supporting Mesquite’s terrific safety officers and support staff, sending students in both the 8th and 11th grades to leadership camps, and many other youth initiatives.

With a worldwide network of over 32,000 clubs and 1.2 million members, Rotary works toward the elimination of polio throughout the world, helps provide clean water and proper sanitation in countries where resources are lacking, provides wheelchairs for the crippled and maimed individuals, as well as helping provide children with needed medical support.
