Virgin Valley Artists’ Association announces their 2018 Art Scholarship Recipent, Virgin Valley High School Valedictorian, Ms. Shandon Stiner.

Shandon Stiner, Virgin Valley High School’s Senior Class Valedictorian, was awarded a scholarship grant by the Virgin Valley Artists Association (VVAA) at an awards reception on July 19 at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery.  Her scholarship grant will be forwarded to Dixie State College in St. George, Utah next fall, where Shandon will continue her education.  Shandon indicated she was pursuing a degree in math/computer science.

Each year, the VVAA grants scholarships, upon application, to high school students who have shown a proficiency in the arts.  Shandon, who discovered her love of art when she was a child, attributed much of her current talent to the quality art instruction she received in Mesquite’s Middle and High School art classes.  This year, at the high school, Advanced Placement art students were encouraged to apply for the VVAA grant and Shandon easily fulfilled the requirements for the scholarship.

Shandon has been active in Mesquite, volunteering at the Thrift Store and Mesquite’s Food Bank, and she has even worked as one of the Mesquite Show Girls, the all-volunteer organization that appears frequently at premiers, new business openings and a wide variety of Mesquite events.

The Virgin Valley Artists’ Association sends its wishes of success to Shandon in her college pursuits and her very promising future endeavors.
