THIS COULD BE THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED BUT CONGRATULATIONS TO RICK SCHOLL AND PLAYING PARTNER JEFF HOYT FOR SHOOTING THE IDENTICAL NINE HOLE ROUNDS ON BOTH SIDES. Each had a 37 on the front and 41 on the back but Jeff out birdied Rick, 4 to 1, with birdies on 5, 10, 11, and 18. But Scholl took home first place in the A flight with a 68 to Hoyt’s 69. The 2018 President’s Cup Tournament was held at the Palms golf course on Thursday. At the end of the day there were three players tied at a net 66. Willie Nelson, Dick Swayne and David Miller two from the forward tees and one from the far, far front red tee box. The tie breaker would be the lowest number of strokes on the back nine holes which was 43 shot by Miller, followed by Swayne with 44. Some of the oddities noticed on the score cards were by Dana Schultz who had nine fives with seven straight on holes 4 thru 10 and Dick Swayne who shot had 10 fives with 6 out of the 9 holes on the back side.
As the weather warms up the net scores are heading south. Today, five of the nine winners scored a net 70 or under. The medalist for the day was Rod ( I got my hdcp up just enough) Stamger with 80 and on the other end Larry (IS IT ME) Foley slid in with a low of 63. Jeff ( I beat my nine on Tues with a 10 today) Hoyt a 39 on the front side and Stanger a 39 on the back. The only scores in the 30’s. Willie Nelson won 2nd in the C flight over Delbert Moore by one shot. Not much to brag about today.
