The Virgin Valley High School girl flag football team defeated three opponents over the weekend in their Bulldog Invitational but fell to 4A Centennial High School 39-26 in the finals. The tourney was held at the Mesquite Sports and Events Center. The Bulldogs defeated two foes Friday evening, Shadow Ridge 27-15 and Foothill 14-6. The Bulldogs racked up 190 yards on the ground from Katie Zuniga (94 yards), Elisabeth DeLeon (66 yards) and quarterback Kallie Graves (24 yards) in the win over Shadow Ridge. Graves had a passing T.D. to Dylan Bryant in her 11-22 completions. Zuniga had two touchdowns on the ground and Graves added one.

The second game of the evening was a defensive struggle as the Dawgs faced a good 4A team in Foothill. The Lady Dawgs prevailed 14-6 on the strength of their running game on Zuniga (86 yards), DeLeon (76 yards) and Graves (59 yards) for a total of 221 yards. Graves ran and passed for both Bulldog touchdowns. The Defense was led by Madison Cheney, Bryant and Shalee Hafen with 8, 7 and 9 tackles respectively.

The Bulldogs faced Legacy High School Saturday morning in a rematch of their season opener. The Dawgs won that game 32-6 and matched it with a 35-6 win over the Longhorns on Saturday. The Dawgs started slow but got their offense going behind Graves taking a 21-0 lead at the half. Graves had four rushing touchdowns in the game and added a T.D. pass to Bryant. The Dawgs defense played another strong game giving the offense a chance to score at will.

The Championship game was a tough loss to division 4A Centennial High School. The Centennial Bulldogs jumped on the Lady Bulldogs early taking a 32-7 lead after one half of play. The Bulldogs recovered in the second half but fell 39-26 at the end of the game. Graves ran for one T.D. and hit Cheney, DeLeon and Alyson Cook for touchdowns. Lady Dawg Hafen was named defensive MVP for the tourney and Graves was named to the first team. The Bulldogs travel to Sunrise Mountain and Las Vegas High Schools before hosting Arbor View on December 14.
