The Virgin Valley High School girl flag football team had sweet revenge Wed. Nov. 30 over Legacy High School defeating the Longhorns 32-6. The win avenged a 33-20 defeat in last year’s game. Leading the way for the Gridiron Gals were quarterback Kallie Graves and receiver/defensive back Madison Cheney. Cheney had 116 yards on four receptions and Graves ran for two touchdowns and hit receiver Dylan Bryant for two more in the first half of play.

Cheney had a monstrous game setting up a 10 yard T.D. by running back Katie Zuniga with a 40 yard reception and run. Cheney had the extra point on a Graves pass to make the score 7-0 after six minutes of play. The Dawgs defense shut down the Longhorns on three straight possessions giving the ball back to the Bulldogs high powered offense. Graves hit Cheney over the middle for 40 yards down to the Longhorns one yard line. Graves ran it over for the score increasing the Dawgs lead to 13-0. Cheney got the Bulldogs offense back on the field with an interception on the Dawgs 30 yard line. Four running plays later Graves was back in the end zone with her second one yard T.D. giving the Dawgs a 19-0 advantage. The Bulldogs increased their lead to 26-0 with less than one minute remaining in the first half on a Graves to Bryant 9 yard T.D. pass.

The Bulldogs would add their last T.D. of the day on their second possession of the second half on a 5 yard Bryant reception. Meanwhile the Bulldogs defense shut down the Longhorns for 57 minutes of the game until Legacy had their first T.D. of the game against Bulldog reserves. The final score found the Dawgs winning 32-6. Cheney led the Dawgs defense with 15 tackles. The Bulldogs play again Friday afternoon at 3:15pm in their own Bulldog Invitational. The Event will be held at the Mesquite Sports and Events Center.
