After going 0/7 in preseason play, the Bulldog boy soccer team, snapped their losing streak with a 1-0 Sunrise League defeat of Boulder City High School Tuesday afternoon at the Mesquite Sports and Events Center. Pedro Osuna-Gomez struck goal at the 21 minute of the second half giving the Dawgs the victory. The goal came after Osuna was dropped in the box by an Eagle defender setting up the winning shot. He deftly put the ball by the Eagle goalkeeper for the goal.

Bulldog coach Chris Park exhorted has charges to man up through-out the game. “You can’t lose,” Coach Park yelled from the sidelines as his Dawgs shut down the Eagles scoring opportunities. The first half was a defensive struggle as the Eagles and Bulldogs battled evenly. The Eagles had the first scoring opportunity early with the first corner kick of the game. The Bulldogs had their best opportunity to score 10 minutes in on shots by Jaiden Juan and Freddy Gomez. The first half ended in a 0-0 tie.

Bulldog Roman Perez, who reported late to begin the season, gave the Bulldogs a shot in the arm with two goal shots early in the second period. The Eagles through a scare into the Bulldogs nine minutes in when the Dawgs goalkeeper left his post on an attempted save as the Eagles shot headed toward the net. Bulldog defender Angel DeSantiago smartly slid over and pushed the ball downfield. Gomez’s goal gave coach Park his first taste of victory as the Bulldogs head coach. “I thought we started out a little slow,” said Coach Park. “We finally found our rhythm in the second half and play with more desire. I was really pleased with captain Pedro (Gomez) who got the P.K. I thought he commanded the entire mid-field. Jaiden Juan played well as a wing giving us opportunities to score with his passing.” The Bulldogs will defend their 1-0 record at Chaparral Thursday in Las Vegas.
