The Virgin Valley High School soccer gals opened the 2016 3A Sunrise League season with convincing 6-2 win over the Boulder City High School Eagles Tuesday afternoon in Boulder City. The Bulldogs gave up an early goal to the Eagles before star striker Abbie Barnum got two goals within the first six minutes. The Bulldogs onslaught continued with three goals in three minutes, two by freshman Ally Wright and another Barnum goal giving the Dawgs a 5-1 lead after one half of play. Barnum would add her fourth goal of the match with 19 minutes remaining in the game for a 6-2 win. The Bulldogs outshot the Eagles 21-4 in the dominating win. Kallie Graves added two assists for the Dawgs and Karla Correa added one. “Bringing Alejandra Camacho up from J.V.’s to start on the back line has helped us come together,” said Bulldog coach Bob Snell. “We are creating more scoring opportunities and playing much better in the middle. We got Alyson Cook back at goalkeeper in the second half after her surgery.” The Bulldogs host Chaparral on Thursday Sept.22 in hopes of continuing a winning streak.
