You can begin your July fourth by being independent from your stove. Join Cub Scout Troop #2341 as they kick off the holiday with the annual pancake breakfast at the Bunkerville Park. You have to get there early, they’re coming off the grill at 6:30 a.m. and they’ll only be serving until 8 a.m.   Cost of the breakfast is $25 per family or $5 per individual.

For the seventh consecutive year, Eureka Casino Resort is proud to host, “Rockets over the Red Mesa” on Friday, July 4th. The Nevada POPS Orchestra will be back again this year with a full orchestra performing a 75-minute program.

The live performance will begin at 8:00 pm followed by fireworks at 9:00 pm. The orchestra will accompany the fireworks show. The fireworks and concert are free to attend and is a continuing gift to the local community.

“The Nevada POPS have been a staple in Southern Nevada for more than 20 years and bringing them to Mesquite is something we are honored to do. Celebrating through music is a fantastic way to bring our community together,” said Eureka co-founder, Doris Lee.

Arrive early and enjoy the Backyard BBQ Premier Buffet in Town Square. The buffet will feature favorites such as BBQ chicken, ribs, hamburgers and hot dogs. The buffet will be open from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Don’t miss the charity vendor village from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m.

The viewing area will be set up behind Eureka Casino. Bring your own chairs. Everyone is invited to attend. Weather permitting.

The Mesquite Recreation Center has plenty of activities planned for the fourth of July celebration.

In the pool area there will be snow cones, candy, face painting and chips and soda available for purchase. Activities planned for the day include: Watermelon football, Water Balloon Toss, Face painting, dunk tank, bounce houses and music. Fun for the whole family and it’s free. You don’t need a recreation center pass to enjoy the day’s festivities, the event is a continuing gift to the community.

Stay cool this summer in one of the city’s two splash pads. Splash Pads are located at Hafen Park and the Mesquite Sports and Events Complex and are free to the public.

Don’t forget the Mesquite Library has programs throughout the summer to help you learn or brush up on your computer skills. Check the library schedule for all their summer classes.

Keep reading over the summer, I’ll let you know what’s going on in Mesquite and where it’s all happening. Send all your events and activities to terin.bbm@gmail.com. I’ll help you spread the word to all the die hard summer residents.
