It’s been a long season for the home town Virgin Valley High School Bulldogs as they lost their season finale 5-2 Thursday, May 4 at Del Sol High School. The Bulldogs gave up four runs in the bottom of the first and trailed 4-1 after two innings. The Dragons added one run in the second to lead 5-0. The Bulldogs managed five hits for the game including a home run by pitcher Dillan Fuqua. Fuqua pitched a complete game scattering 10 hits.
The loss dropped the Bulldogs season record to 6-19 and 2-12 in 1-A Division play. Despite their record, the future looks bright for Bulldog baseball. The Dawgs fielded eight sophomores and two junior classman this year. Adding some future players who are moving up from the Virgin Valley Little League program should make Bulldog baseball a force in the future.
