BUBBA PETRICK UPSETS YEH BY ONE SHOT
Bubba Petrick may have finally found his game after a few years of rehab on his knees. He shot an even par 35 on the front nine of Falcon Ridge on Tuesday and added a 44 on the back for 79 to beat Andrew Yeh (80) for medalist honors. Gary Denhalter had birdies on three, 15 and 16 for a 38-46-84 to win low net by four shots over Rich Brown (83). Though his net 68 was tied for second place with Willie Nelson (91) he won second going triple bogey and birdie on the second hdcp hole. Russ Clark (87) continues his fine play and was alone in 4th with his net 70. Ken Ward (8 4) and Rick Scholl (80) were tied at net 71 which Ward got the 5th spot with a bogey on 13 to Scholl’s double for 6th. Bob Chambers (87) and net 72 was tied for the last place with Joel Reilly (94) and Aaron Kennard (89). But Chambers won it with a par on the first hdcp hole . His spectacular par on 13 was with the shot and hole honor of the day. His drive was sliced up on top of the high hill to the right. Without “Jennie” he walked to the top found his ball and four others. He chipped back into the fairway in two and hit a fantastic third shot to within two feet of the hole and made the par putt. Great hole Bobbie!
NACCARATO TAKES HOME TOP AWARD
The forward tee players for the MMGA took home both top honors in play Thursday at the CasaBlanca golf course. It’s not very often that a forward tee player has bragging rights for medalist honors. But today Jim Naccarato shot a pretty good front nine of 43 but sealed the deal with a marvelous back nine of one birdie and six pars for a two over par 38 to take home the low gross award. Ken Ward (83) won the second low gross. Not to be outdone another forward tee shooter, Bob Chambers shot an 89 and a net 69 to win the low net round of the morning. A three way tie for second low net between Ken Ward (83), Russ Clark (88) and Willie Nelson (93) was decided when Ward got second with a par on the first hdcp hole. Third went to Clark when he shot double bogey, bogey and parred the third hdcp hole leaving Nelson in the 4th spot. Frank Thomasino (86) continues to improve his game as he followed up his six birdie round on Tuesday with three today that earned him the 5th net position with 71. Pat Smitty (87) broke a three way tie for 6th by parring the first hdcp hole.
