The Virgin Valley Artists Association will host the ‘Shoes Not Meant for Walking’ winner’s announcement and auction on Jan. 21 during the ‘Winter Wonderland’ artist’s reception being held in the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery from 4-6 p.m.
The auction, originally scheduled for Jan. 23 will be the culmination of an event that started Oct. 30, 2015 and had local businesses decorating a pair of canvas shoes in any way they desired. The shoes were donated by the VVAA for this fund raiser and are to be gathered and displayed for the public Jan. 18-21. At the reception on Jan. 21, a trophy award and gift basket will be given to the winning business team for the best artistic use of their shoes after which the shoes will be auctioned off and the money gathered by the VVAA for their scholarship fund.
Mark your calendars for Jan. 21 and have some fun at the Gallery with a winner’s presentation for what may be the funkiest pair of tennies, a lively, fund raising auction and a great reception for the artists of the ‘Winter Wonderland’ exhibition, currently on display at the gallery.
The Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery is located at 15 W. Mesquite Blvd. and is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The public is always welcome at the gallery and there is no admission charge.
