The Virgin Valley Amateur Radio Club, also called “ham” radio, held their monthly meeting on Oct. 13 with a barbecue hosted at the home of members Theron and Chris Jensen. Their monthly meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Fire Station #2 in Mesquite.

In 2005, co-founders Charlie Lum Kee and Steve Hoff established the Radio Club for the purpose of wireless experimentation, self- training, private recreation and emergency communication. The members hold radio communication “nets” weekly to make sure they are prepared in case other means of communication fail. It is a hobby enjoyed by Amateur Radio enthusiasts worldwide.

The Virgin Valley Amateur Radio Club welcomes new members and occasionally offers training for those who are interested in being part of the Radio Club. For more information email sd_hoff@hotmail.com or call and leave a message at 702-346-5827.
