The Virgin Valley High School girl volleyball team continued their stay atop the 1-A Sunrise League standings with a resounding 3-0 win over the Cowboys from Chaparral High School Tuesday night in their Dawg House.
Leading the way for the Dawgs were Janella Fiso with 20 assists and 6 service aces and Kaydee Bingham with 5 kills and 4 aces. The Lady Dawg front line of Brianna Todd, Emma Barnum and Bernice Fiso had 6 kills apiece to dominate the match.
The Dawgs easily won the first match 25-9 behind Kaydee Bingham’s 12 straight service points. Bernice Fiso put an exclamation point on the win with a huge kill at the end of the match. The Bulldogs trailed early in the second match 5-6 before their frontline made kill after kill to win easily 25-15.
Fiso’s service points gave the Dawgs a 5-0 lead in the final match before Dylan Bryant put the game out of reach with 9 straight service points and a 16-4 Bulldog advantage. The Bulldogs finished the Cowboys off 25-8 in the match. The Dawgs record now stands at 8-0 in league play and 18-7 overall.
The Dawgs face their stiffest competition the next two games. They host Moapa Valley on Thursday, Oct. 15 and Boulder City on Monday Oct. 19. Both teams are seeking revenge for the Dawgs hard fought wins. Two wins would give the Lady Dawgs breathing room over the second place Eagles (8-1) and the third place Pirates (7-2). Of the Dawgs final four games, only TECH has a winning record.
