The “overseed” party at Falcon Ridge started with a great lunch provided by Brian Wursten’s clubhouse crew.

The fun really started with a chipping contest 80 yards from the 10th tee back to the putting green. Golfers got to witness some very unusual shots this year but the good players came through and was won by Lee Stevens at 5 ft. Second place went to Terry Spriggs at 11 ft. and Dave Calmelat took third at 13 ft.

The next contest was a two-man team best ball event won by Terry Spriggs and John Johnson with a smooth 35 for the front nine holes.  Second place went to Lee Stevens and Jim Buttler which was pure luck on their part.

The closest to the pin winners were Jim Buttler for hole #2, John Johnson on hole #5 and Sid Bounds on #8.

The final contest was a four-hole horse race shootout that started out like herding cats but wound up a good game.

Eliminating players as they went from each hole with the final pairing of John Johnson and Ben Bishop.

“We had a very unusual finish to this contest—John Johnson,” said Jim Buttler. “He was on the green in two shots when Ben finally got in putting range (in four). With J.J. being one of our better golfers, he looked like a sure winner at this point but after four-putting that hole he and Ben were tied again and we all know what a great putter Ben in under pressure and he proved it in the putt off to win this segment of the day.” Then their official scorer for the day, Doug Lund, said, “that’s a wrap, lets call it a day.”
