On Monday afternoon, at around 3:15 p.m., police and rescue crews were called to 1060 W Pioneer Boulevard for a vehicle versus building accident. Upon arrival, crews found a white Nissan truck partially inside of Sally Beauty Supply, next to Dotty’s and Best Mattress.
The unidentified driver of the Nissan that plowed into the storefront escaped the vehicle without injury and refused medical treatment. Fortunately, there were only two people inside of the store, and they were far enough to the back of the room to not be injured as well. Substantial damage was suffered by the front of the building, including the pillars and glass windows and doors as well as the frame. “This could have been much worse,” stated Captain John Gately with Mesquite Fire and Rescue.
With the assistance of B&B Towing, crews removed the vehicle and cleaned up the site.
According to Lieutenant MaQuade Chesley with the Mesquite Police Department, the incident appeared to have been caused by human error alone, citing that she “simply pushed the gas instead of the brake.” Chesley also noted that there were no citations given to the driver and that drugs and/or alcohol were not involved.
A call to the store Tuesday morning was unsuccessful as the manager refused to comment on whether this incident impacted the business’ daily operations.
the manager said it was a record day,,,joe
