The Homeschool Gathering Place is sponsoring a FREE community outreach event for those new to, or considering, homeschooling for the first time. The Homeschool Symposium will be held May 16, 2015 at the NV Cooperative Extension Building, 1897 North Moapa Valley Boulevard, Logandale, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Presenters from several groups, including Laura Bledsoe, will talk about many different homeschool options. Attendees will also be able to visit with presenters to learn more about which educational plan is right for their family.

As parents, you may have noticed that children today are a generation who fight against force. What this means in the world of parenting and education is that they will likely challenge external authoritarianism (those who tell them what they have to do and when they have to do it). Our amazing children will learn more and thrive better with individualized, mission based education where they can each find a fire within as they discover who they are and what they are born to do. Homeschool is an ideal setting to provide an education for these children so they will learn to awaken the hero within themselves, learn to intrinsically discover with the heart, and learn to have faith to stand to face the challenges of the coming days as leaders and innovators. The education these children need for their future will not be one that is based on educational systems of the past.

The Homeschool Gathering Place is in the process of gathering those who wish to join together in providing a leadership education for our children. If you are interested in learning more, please visit our Facebook page: Moapa Valley Homeschool Connection. This leadership education group will begin in the fall with activities happening throughout the spring and summer including:

  • Fun park playdays, including some special water activities
  • Children’s reading groups with activities
  • Parent and family book discussion groups
  • Weekly family classes starting in the fall
