FATAL ACCIDENT – LITTLEFIELD (ARIZONA STRIP)             

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single vehicle rollover accident in the area of Scenic Boulevard at milepost 2 Saturday (3/7) morning.  At about 6:05 a.m., deputies and Mesquite fire personnel responded to the scene of where a Ford Excursion vehicle rolled.  Passenger Albert Wharton, 39, of Mesquite was able to call 911 and was eventually assisted by a passerby regarding their location.  Wharton advised there were two other occupants that were with him.  Upon arrival, deputies and fire personnel located the other two occupants that have been ejected from the vehicle.  Wharton sustained minor injuries and he was transported to Mesa View Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.

The second passenger, Bartlett Stephenson, 40, of Littlefield, was found to have sustained head trauma, multiple broken ribs, broken arm and leg and internal injuries.  Stephenson was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas by Mercy Air and was listed in critical condition Saturday (3/7) morning.  The driver, Travis Hughes, 41, of Mesquite was found to be deceased at the scene.

Speed and alcohol are considered to be factors in this on-going investigation.  Autopsy results are pending.

As of Monday morning, Stephenson was listed in serious critical condition.
