MRB‘s policy is to nominate individuals who have contributed to the economic health and vitality of the Mesquite Region to fill vacant board seats. MRB seeks individuals who have demonstrated exemplary performance, involvement and commitment to the overall economic well-being of the region.

On Wednesday, George Gault, MRB Chair, announced two new board members have been added to the Mesquite Regional Business Board of Directors:

David Bennett, former Mesquite City Councilman and current management sales representative for Fidelity National Title – Management sales representative with Fidelity National Title a Fortune 500 Company in the title insurance industry since 2003. Prior to that was a loan manager with a local, Mesquite credit union from 1995 until 2003 with experience originating and processing consumer, mortgage, and some commercial loans. Extensive experience with regards to residential & commercial real estate sales, financing, development, and land use. Graduate of Southern Utah University in 1994 with a BA in Political Science with a minor in Spanish. 2014 graduate of University of Nevada Las Vegas of the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, School of Environmental and Public Affairs with a Masters of Public Administration (MPA). 12 years (3 terms) as an elected city councilman in the City of Mesquite, NV with oversight responsibilities of city’s redevelopment agency, annual budget, planning/zoning ordinances, master plan updates, economic development, strategic planning, and general city administration. Served as President of the Nevada League of Cities for one year and four years on the executive board of the organization. Experience lobbying at the county and state level, with general
government affairs experience at all levels and all branches of state government. Served in the following capacities: Clark County Regional Flood Control Board-4 years, Clark County Regional Transportation Commission-4 years, Virgin Valley Water District Board of Directors-6 years, Mesquite Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors-2 years, & Nevada Broad Band Taskforce-2 years. Proud resident of Mesquite going back to the mid 1980’s. Married with 5 children.

Kathy Bussman, Controller for Wolf Creek Golf Club – Employed at Wolf Creek Golf Club as the Controller and HR Director; also oversee financial matters for affiliate business NevDex in Reno, NV. Relocated to Mesquite 3 ½ years ago from Washington State. Spent 23 years working for a coal mine and the adjacent power plant; advanced up the corporate ladder through the years ending my tenure as Finance Manager and Treasurer for the US Operations. Moved on to work as Controller at a Golf Course and then a Casino. Graduated, with honors, from the University of Phoenix with a BSBM degree.

Bennett and Bussman were elected to the MRB Board of Directors for two years terms ending on June 30, 2016. Bennett and Bussman join existing MRB directors George Gault, Ken Cook and Dan Wright, Senior Vice President Bank of Nevada. Roger Ingbretsen, Ingbretsen Consulting, was recognized as an outgoing Director.

“The new board members have readily demonstrated a high level of involvement and commitment to civic and community welfare. They have contributed to the economic health of our community through support and participation in civic organizations and community programs, and have assumed prominent leadership roles for the benefit of our community,” stated George Gault.
In addition to the two new board members, the 2014/2015 MRB Board Officers are announced.

They are:
Chair – George Gault – IEDC certified economic developer (CEcD). National Development Council certified Economic Development Finance Professional. Retired President of Wyoming Community Foundation, a $70 million public, nonprofit foundation. Managing Director of Administration for American Capital Access, the nation’s first single A rated bond insurance company. Directed Wyoming’s economic development program, served as county administrator and county planner in western Colorado.
Vice Chair – Dan Wright, Senior Vice President Bank of Nevada – Been with Bank of Nevada for eleven years, the last seven at the Mesquite location, with the first four years in Las Vegas. Title is Senior Vice President. Graduated from Southern Utah University with BS in Finance in 2002. Served on several community boards in Mesquite: Mesa View Regional Hospital (three years from 1Q2010-1Q2013), Mesquite Chamber Board (2006-2007), currently serving on board of Exchange Club of Mesquite, Mesquite Regional Business, Inc. and on organizing Board for Virgin Valley Little League. All-American and All-Conference baseball player in College. Married with four kids and love living in Mesquite.
Secretary/Treasurer – Ken Cook – A graduate of Purdue (BS) and Northwestern (MBA), held various staff positions at the corporate headquarters of Sears, Roebuck and Co., until becoming the Senior Corporate HR Officer, operating at the Board level. While in the corporate holding company, led the HR function on the merger, acquisition and spinoff teams, which acquired/divested Dean Witter, Coldwell Banker, and Allstate, as well as site selection for facilities locations, working with municipalities throughout the country. Upon the breakup of Sears, moved to the corporate headquarters of CNA, a Chicago-based global diversified insurance company, as the Senior Corporate HR Officer. Now retired, have relocated to Mesquite and am active in various civic activities, including the Board of Directors of the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce.

These community-minded citizens are charged with the responsibility for providing the leadership and support needed to sustain MRB as a forward – looking advocate of economic development for the Mesquite Region.

We are extremely pleased with the quality of leadership experience on the Board.”
