“I can’t believe this is our fifth Christmas Show” says Larry LeMieux, creator of what has become a tradition for the holiday season in Mesquite. The Christmas Show is a variety show with a twist. The twist is a theme from a traditional Christmas movie is added to the program which includes songs by local choirs, groups, dancers, soloists and musicians. This year the theme is ‘A Christmas Story,’ the classic movie about Ralphie, a young boy growing up, dreams of owning a Red Rider BB gun. He sets out to convince the world this is the perfect gift, but along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher, and even good ol’ Santa Claus himself. Members from the Virgin Valley Theatre Group, lead by Jenna Grubb and Matt McDonald, will reenact scenes from the movie between numbers. Past themes for the Christmas Show have been ‘White Christmas,’ ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’.
