Dave Zeleniak has been known to share his love of roses through several venues, one being the Eureka Casino, who have been supportive of his knowledge and of community interests. On Tuesday, Feb. 23 Eureka and Zeleniak both provided a different type of community interest; a well put together presentation on ‘Transformations’ and healthy living.

Zeleniak , himself was the subject of the lecture.   His personal battle and ultimate success laid out in a detailed and thorough, printed, Power Point presentation that the approximately 60 audience members could take home with them.

If you asked anyone who knows him to describe Zeleniak they would likely say, “He’s a big man”, but it wouldn’t be his stature they would be speaking of. Zeleniak ‘sits’ a full four feet some odd inches in his scooter since his paralysis in 2008 when he was just 50 years old and weighs a mere 167 lbs. It is his spirit they would be describing; his influence, generosity and imprint all make up the ‘big’ person that Mesquite citizens know as ‘Dave Z’.

Meeting Zeleniak today, you will see a picture of health and vitality despite his obvious challenge of living each day in a wheel chair. If you had known Zeleniak in June of 2012, at his lowest point, four years post paralysis; you would have seen a different person.

Still angry and depressed over a surgery which accidentally left him paralyzed and not overly motivated to pay attention to health issues, Zeleniak let himself get very unhealthy. Zeleniak says, “There wasn’t any one epiphany that led to his transformation but a lot of little things which led up to my commitment to get healthy once again. With the love and support of my wife, I was able to do that.”

In Zeleniak’s ‘Transformation’ lecture he maps out exactly what steps he took and steps that everyone can take with a bit of adjustment. The transformation seems simple once you have the basics, Zeleniak is living proof that it can be done even with physical challenges and the result is dramatic. The challenge in creating the transformation is the commitment to change.

Zeleniak made that commitment in 2013 and he is eager to share his experience, his knowledge and his support with anyone wanting to make a transformation of their own. You can find out more about Zeleniak’s Transformation by contacting him at davezbefitforlife@gmail.com.
