Sunday night’s power outage affected 860 customers in the Mesquite area, mainly those who reside behind the Eureka Casino & Resort, between Oasis Boulevard and Mesa Boulevard.

According to an email from Keith Buchhalter, a Supervisor with Overton Power District,  Monday morning, crews had power restored to the area within an hour. “Power was interrupted last night  at 8:49 p.m. after a vehicle hit one of our transformers on Kitty Hawk and Marilyn Parkway in Mesquite, NV affecting 860 customers. A crew was dispatched immediately restoring power at 9:42 p.m. We would like to thank our crew members for their prompt response and restoring the power in a safely manner.”

Update as of 1:25 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014:

In an email from MaQuade Chesley, the Public Information Officer for the Mesquite Police Department, the driver of the vehicle was a juvenile, so the name will not be released.  Chesley states “The juvenile was issued a citation for Due Care and Failure to Maintain Travel Lane. No injuries were reported.
