Highland Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has been presented with the 2013 HealthInsight Quality Award for demonstrating excellence in health care.HealthInsight, a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to improving health and health care in Nevada, sponsors the award.

Highland Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was selected for demonstrating excellence in key areas such as patient-centered care, the development of a strong performance improvement plan, and for their long-term commitment to excellence. In order to meet criteria for this quality award, nursing homes had to rank in the top 25% of performers in the State; based on MDS 3.0 Quality Measures from Nursing Home Compare, as well as demonstrate a successfully implemented quality improvement program in their building.

In fact, Highland Manor of Mesquite scored an 86% on Quality Measures, the highest in the entire State. In addition, CMS, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid granted Highland Manor its highest rating, 5 Stars as of May 31, 2013. CMS requires three other measureable areas besides Quality Measures: Health Inspections, Staffing, and RN Staffing in the calculation and then awards from one to five stars to each Nursing Home in the United States. Highland Manor is also an accredited facility on Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) measured by Providigm through June 2014.

“Our team works well together and strives each day to ensure patient care is high quality,” said Rosa Paucar, R.N.  Director of Nursing of Highland Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. “Accomplishment of this award means a great deal to our staff.”

“At Highland Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center we are continually on a journey towards performance excellence,” said James Sullivan, Administrator. “We are always looking for ways to improve the services we provide to the individuals entrusted to our care.”

On August 12, 2013, Sabrina Drass, Project Coordinator for HealthInsight and Jackie Buttaccio, Quality Improvement Manager for HealthInsight, honored Highland Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the annual Nevada Health Care Association conference.
