The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada has scheduled a consumer session for Thursday, Sept. 12, to hear public comment regarding Rio Virgin Telephone Co.’s rate increase application.
Rio Virgin Telephone Co. (d/b/a Reliance Connects) provides service to customers in rural portions of Clark County in and around Mesquite. The company proposes to increase the basic monthly residential rate 58 percent from $8.86 to $14. Rio Virgin Telephone Co. also proposes to increase business rates 11.7 percent from $13.43 to $15.
Other proposed rate changes include lowering its direct inward dialing rate from $5 to 50 cents per number and elimination of the Touch Tone service fee, which is currently 75 cents.
In addition, Rio Virgin Telephone Co. seeks $737,992 from the Nevada Universal Service Fund to help maintain rates at reasonably comparable levels to urban rates.
