On a normal day you can’t over estimate the dumb-assery on display in the national media when it comes to coverage of Donald Trump.

On Inauguration Day, the idiocy came off the hook.

Sherman Frederick

At one inauguration event, Elon Musk waved at the joyous crowd, saying “I just want to say thank you for making it happen. Thank you.” He placed his right hand on his heart and waved straight out to the crowd.

A still picture circulated through newsrooms and social media that the Trump-wary media said looked like a Nazi salute. Here’s how the L.A. Times justified doing a story:

“Critics have sounded alarms about the richest man on Earth and a close advisor to President Trump making what they saw as ‘Heil Hitler’ gestures at an inauguration event.”

So, because some nameless critic of Donald Trump thinks she saw a “Heil Hitler” moment, that justifies a serious story?

An objective viewing of the event in real time would lead anyone with common sense to know this was an exuberant wave to supporters, not a Nazi salute. To make it worse, the Times said Musk has been guilty of sketchy anti-Semitic stuff before. But, when you click on the link to see what the Times is talking about, it goes to a story behind a paywall.

Shameful, really. If you’re seriously gonna entertain the idea Musk is a real Nazi, make the link viewable.

Of course, Musk is not a Nazi and this was not a Nazi salute. Even the Anti-Defamation League told the L.A. Times they were making something out of nothing. That fine organization said:

“It seems [Musk] made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge. In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath.”

Yet, the Times did the story anyway.

Not a shining moment in journalism for the biggest newspaper on the West Coast.

TROUBLE DOWN SOUTH

Nevada’s neighbor down south, Arizona, is on a collision course with the Trump Administration’s move to deport illegal migrants.

Trump’s “worst first” policy of deportation began with ICE agents saying they have “arrested a number of child sex offenders, as well as gang members and other criminals, among the more than 530 illegal immigrants it caught on another day of the Trump-era mass deportation campaign.”

On Friday, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs squared up on Donald Trump saying she won’t allow state employees to assist ICE.

As of this writing, there have not been any ICE raids in Arizona, so this is all rhetoric … now. But it’s just a matter of time before this tough talk of resistance gets real. Border Czar Tom Homan says he will arrest Gov. Hobbs if she interferes in mass deportation of illegal aliens in the state.

Get your popcorn out, boys and girls. This is going to get interesting.

SEN. ROSEN

Nevada’s Sen. Jacky Rosen tweeted last week that she is “relieved to see Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy and Liri Albag return home to their families after being held hostage for nearly 500 days by Hamas terrorists. We won’t stop until we see ALL of the remaining hostages reunited with their loved ones.”

So far I have not seen Sen. Rosen properly acknowledge and praise President Trump for getting the hostages back and bringing a ceasefire to Gaza. Any objective review concludes that it was Trump, not Joe Biden, that brought this all about.

Not too late, Sen. Rosen. It would be the “bipartisan” thing to do.
