Remember when the now largely discredited Democratic Party told us that Joe Biden was a steady hand in crisis and a bridge to the future?
Like Mr. Biden, that didn’t age well.

The world, and along with it life as we knew it, exploded under his watch. Here’s a quick count off the top of my head:
Crazy mismanagement of the COVID-19 response.
Racial unrest in most urban cities.
Botched Afghanistan withdrawal, costing 13 soldiers their lives.
Run-a-way spending, fueling inflation.
Soaring gasoline prices.
Skyrocketing food prices.
Authoritarian-style social media censorship.
A Russian-Ukrainian war.
Middle-East Chaos.
Banana Republic “law-fare” waged on political enemies.
Now that the Biden years are at an end, the world’s already changing in anticipation of a second Donald Trump presidency.
This week Syria’s tyrant Bashar al-Assad fled the country in the wake of a rebel uprising. Both Iran and Russia, backers of Bashar, also exited the country. Three weeks ago, Israel reached a cease fire agreement with Hezbollah, further weakening Iran’s hand in the Middle East and isolating Hamas.
These are two examples of how the world’s villains, who ran amok under the “steady hand” of Joe Biden, appear to be changing as Trump 2.0 nears.
Now look, I know I’m just some Western State guy writing far outside the Washington Beltway. I have no deep state denizen with an agenda whispering in my ear.
But, you don’t need to be an astronomer to comment on how the sun’s rising.
TEDDY & TRUMP
There’s a pretty good documentary on Teddy Roosevelt playing right now on Amazon. If you get the streaming service, I recommend it. When TR first appeared on the scene, he was considered a loud, elite rich kid hated within the Republican Party’s status quo. Then, he became president and a darling of working people. Something like what we’re witnessing with Donald Trump, no?
ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
To understand what kind of alternate political universe we now live in, look no further than the governor on the goofy side of the Sierra Nevadas.
Last week, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, before the shellacking of DEI-babe Kamala Harris by the guy who was supposed to be “Hitler reincarnated,” headed to the Mexico-California border with soldiers in tow to hold a press conference on how he is now oh-so tough on the border.
He’s “stepping up border security” to stop cartel violence, human trafficking and fentanyl, he proclaimed.
What a turn-a-round.
After telling us the border is “secure,” Gov. G’s getting pictures of himself at the border with armed troops as a backdrop.
Alternate universe, indeed.
