Maureen “Mo” Webb, 80, died on September 20, 2024, in Seattle, Washington after a struggle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and Type I diabetes.

Mo was born on August 3, 1944, in Shiloh Valley Township, Illinois, to Liv Webb and Keith Stucki Webb. She graduated from Jordan High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1962. She took courses from the University of Utah and through the National Association of Legal Secretaries, National Association of Legal Assistants, and National Federation of Paralegal Associations.

Mo was fortunate to work with and for skilled Salt Lake City attorneys in roles including court transcriptionist, legal secretary, office manager and paralegal. She received commendation in 1980 from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Utah for her meticulous typing of its Rules of Practice, and worked with verve on tort cases involving seat belts and soda bottle caps. She utilized the more obscure Thomas Natural Shorthand when jotting notes for the rest of her life.

Her husband Ernest Fredrick Ferguson’s career with the Union Pacific Railroad took them from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas, Nevada, Milford, Utah, and then to Boardman, Oregon, where they bought a four-acre hobby farm and fulfilled a dream to live mostly off the land by raising beef, vegetables and fruit. After Ernest passed away, Mo sold the farm to a young family with energy to tend it. Mo purchased a condominium in Taylorsville, Utah, and served on its homeowners’ association board. In 2018, she moved to her dream retirement home in Mesquite, Nevada, where she flourished with desert air and caring neighbors.

Mo took pride in her management of her Type I diabetes for 58 years.

Mo’s hobbies included gardening, beading, quilting, knitting, crochet, fishing, dancing, and golfing.

Mo is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Lee Birkholz of Seattle, Washington, Jennifer Jo Clark (Patrick) of Ashland, Kentucky; sisters Constance Joy Briggs (James) of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, Lorraine Webb (David Baker) of South Jordan, Utah; grandchildren Michael Thomas Clark of Tooele, Utah, Sarah Magda Clark of Skagway, Alaska, Gabriel Lars Clark of Taylorsville, Nathaniel Lawrence Clark of Skagway, Ezekiel Sergio Clark of Ashland; great-grandchild Jaylene Eleidi Garcia Clark of West Valley City, Utah; stepdaughters Wendy Hicks (Tony) of Taylorsville, Shannon Funk (Bill) of Stansbury Park, Utah; and step-grandchildren Ashlee Funk of Stansbury Park, Arryn Funk of Magna, Utah, and Sydnee Funk of Herriman, Utah.

Mo is predeceased by her parents, her husband Ernest, and her brothers Stanley Keith Webb and Bruce Allen Webb (Loya).

Mo’s family held a private service near Seattle in November 2024. Memorials or donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
