What is the Mammovan? 

The Mammovan is a not-for-profit mobile imaging unit offering state-of-the-art mammograms all across the State of Nevada, for over 23 years.

Who is eligible?

Women age 40 and over may have a screening mammogram without a physician referral.  Women 39 and under, and men of all ages, must provide a physician referral at the time of service.

Payment method?

The Mammovan accepts most major commercial insurances (patients should verify prior to scheduling to assure the Mammovan is in Network) , Medicaid, Medicare, Women’s Health Connection (WHC) for women 50+ (must provide a physician referral at the time of service).   Patient with no insurance, may qualify for a no-cost screening through the generosity of private donors, Corporate Sponsors and Foundations who support our Mission in the fight against breast cancer.  Under the Affordable Care Act, women’s preventive mammograms generally must be covered with no cost; however, verify your coverage with your insurance carrier prior to your appointment and that the Mammovan is in network for your plan.

What type of screenings do we offer?

The Mammovan utilizes the, Hologic Selenia Dimensions (2D/3D) Mammography System.  Better detection, clinically superior, low dose radiation.  Giving patients the same quality care provided by other imaging center.

Also offered, the NEW Hologic SmartCurve Breast Stabilization System, provides a curved compression surface that offers a more comfortable patient experience without compromising image quality.  Fear of pain prevents many women from making regular mammograms appointments as priority, putting them at risk for breast cancer being missed or diagnosed at a more advanced stage.  SmartCurve improves comfort in 93% of patients visits.

 

What is needed to receive a mammogram?

The Mammovan is a certified mobile imaging facility, and like your PCP visits, patients are required to bring the following at the time of their appointment:

  • Must provide proof of State of Nevada residency:
    • Current & valid government issued photo ID i.e. Nevada drivers licenses/Passport
    • Utlilites bills with patients name
    • Payroll voucher
    • If patient lives out of state, but medical insurance is issued through a Nevada employer, they can be screened on the Mammovan
  • Current insurance card, if applicable
  • Name, phone number and fax number of their Primary Care Physisican (PCP)
  • Patients must arrive 15 minutes prior to scheduled appointment

  • Appointments in Spanish, listen for first prompt for instructions
  • Once patient appointment is made, patient will receive a text and/or email from Nevada Health Centers to finalize the registration process online.  By completing required paperwork online ahead of time, will save valuable time during appointment.
