Mesquite, NV – The Mesquite Police Department was recently awarded a $33,500 grant from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, to support MPD’s participation in the Joining Forces traffic safety campaigns. This grant is a 24 percent increase over last year’s award. From October 2023 through September 2024, the Joining Forces campaigns will focus on critical driving safety issues such as impaired driving, distracted driving, seatbelt violations, pedestrian safety, and speeding.
The upcoming “Click-it-or-Ticket” campaign will run from November 10 through November 30, and the Mesquite Police Department will dedicate extra police officers specifically to heighten enforcement and awareness of seatbelt violations. Wearing a seatbelt while driving or riding in a car greatly increases chances of survival in a major collision. The goal of this increased enforcement is to keep all motorists safe
with the upcoming increased holiday traffic.
Please remember to buckle up and ensure all your passengers are buckled in correctly, especially children. Double check all booster seats, child safety seats and harnesses, and never use a child seat beyond the manufacturer’s expiration date or after a vehicle collision. Taking just a few extra moments before your trip can be a lifesaver.
The Joining Forces program is a high visibility, statewide effort to save lives by increasing public awareness about the dangers of making poor choices while driving.
