The Virgin Valley Card Artist of the Month of November is Joyce Redweik.

Each month, VVAA feature one card artist by showing you some of their art, as well as a short biography. Their cards are featured in the Gallery, on the card racks close to the front doors.

When I am asked what kind of artist I am, I respond that I am a doodler. Sometimes I get a puzzling look, then I am asked what is a doodler?

I explain that it is line art that is repeating patterns and allowing your pen to move freely.

I like to say it brings out my inner weirdness. After I give my explanation, people then become very interested.

The art form is also known as tangling or the trademark name Zentangle. I love doodling because most people have at one time doodled, usually as a kid in school.

Little did they know that they can turn their doodles into art. I have doodled for about 6 years, and it is a relaxing form of art and now I am sharing doodling in a gallery art class.

Some “doodles” actually have symbolic meaning in ancient cultures, such as the spiral which represents the galaxy.

I believe cards are fun because they are little pieces of unique art and each are different.

I also like to experiment with other art forms, such as photography, and some then turn those into cards.

When somebody purchases any of my art it is huge compliment to me to know that my art brought a smile to someone’s face.
