Despite the ongoing Democrat campaign to spread pessimism about our prosperous future, the Silver State continues to thrive under Donald Trump.
According to a recent report from the state’s Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation, Nevada’s jobless rate in October was almost a half percentage point lower than it was in the same month last year. In fact, the state economy has added more than 30,000 new jobs over the past 12 months — a wave of job creation that has been largely fueled by President Trump’s campaign to eliminate job-killing federal regulations and cut taxes for the middle class.
It’s telling that the Democrat presidential candidates who showed up for an August debate in Las Vegas were more interested in talking about their plans to take away health insurance from union members and “decriminalize” illegal immigration than in discussing the state’s economy, even as liberal-leaning news outlets were loudly trumpeting baseless predictions of an impending recession.
When Donald Trump first took office, Nevada had approximately 1.3 million nonfarm workers employed throughout the state. Today, that figure has jumped to more than 1.4 million jobs.
While the President’s critics might attempt to downplay this growth as marginal, context is everything. Thanks to Donald Trump, the U.S. economy is operating near full employment, making it impossible to sustain the same remarkable rate of job growth that Americans have enjoyed for the past two and a half years. There are simply fewer unemployed workers available to fill new job openings.
Considering the flurry of economic milestones that our state has achieved in recent years, the ongoing expansion is nothing short of remarkable.
Even Democrat Governor Steve Sisolak praised the recent jobs report — although he naturally said little about the role President Trump’s economic policies have played in bringing about such encouraging results.
“This month’s economic report reflects positive growth in Nevada’s economy,” Sisolak said in a recent statement, adding that “employment in the state continues to show increase over the year, exceeding the national job rate, while unemployment rate remains low and unchanged.”
However, even as our state economy continues to thrive, threats to our prosperity remain. In fact, the governor and his left-wing allies in the legislature have made it clear that they intend to push an agenda that would undermine the economic success Nevadans now enjoy. During this past legislative session, Democrats passed destructive tax increases ― thumbing their noses at the will of Nevada citizens as well as our state constitution in the process ― and their far-left political allies are now mounting an effort to put more new taxes on the ballot.
It’s absurd that as President Trump’s national policies continue to produce such clear and widespread benefits to our state, Nevada’s liberals would attempt to ram through state-level policies that would hamper that success. For the sake of our future prosperity, it’s critical that their efforts fail.
Of course, Nevada is hardly the only state to benefit from Donald Trump’s pro-growth economic platform, which has spurred job creation and business investment throughout the country. The national unemployment rate, for instance, has been hovering near 50-year lows for the past several months. Wages keep increasing rapidly, as well, with median wage growth continuing to exceed 3 percent.
That’s not even the end of the good news for American workers, because President Trump’s tax cuts are also allowing them to keep more of their hard earned pay. In Nevada, the average taxpayer saved over $1,300 on their federal income taxes last year thanks to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Unlike his liberal predecessor, Donald Trump is committed to creating wealth, not just redistributing it. That’s why Nevada continues to prosper despite all the naysaying from the left.

One can only hope that Andy Mathews children will be heading to Iraq for the coming war.
David, you seriously didn’t make that horrific statement did you? You owe a sincere apology to every gold star family out there, do you know what it’s like having your whole world dropped in an instant? In 2005, my dear sister-in-law was working her shift in the ICU when her life and ours as family would never be the same..the men in officers clothing would appear at her son’s home to tell his wife my nephew was killed in action. 6 weeks shy of 20 years in the Military, David you obviously never served this great nation have you? Instead of wasting everyone’s time in telling Mike Young to watch the movie “Bombshell” which by the way failed miserably…you sit down and read the novel Killer elite which my nephew is mentioned by name in, his nick name was Andy and he’s buried in Arlington..go visit there on your many trips you brag about. Absolutely disgusting David.
Our idiot president just put targets on every US citizen with his murder of an Iranian general. Not one speck of blood should be spilled as a result. If you Trump lovers want to support our idiot in chief, then you should be willing to send your kids and grandkids to fight his useless war. Trump complained that Obama was going to attack Iran in order to get reelected in 2012. Now Trump has done just that in order to get people to forget about his impeachment. Innocent people will be killed and injured because of his fragile ego. The General made jokes about Trump so he killed him. What a complete idiot. And by the way, I served in Vietnam twice. I owe no one an apology. You Trump lovers do owe the country an apology for electing a complete moron who is going to add to the number of Gold Star families just because he is a small and insecure person.
David, there is no coming war with Iraq. Only cowards back down to bullies, and this man had lots of U.S. citizens blood on his hands. It would have continued. Trump had no reason to divert people’s attention from the impeachment. Anyone with a 6th grade education knew how that was going to turn out. If the Democrats would pop their collective heads out for fresh air once in awhile, perhaps they could get over being butt hurt and actually do something to help improve this country. If they hadn’t spent the last 3 years crying because they lost, they might have been able to launch some kind of intelligent campaign to beat Trump this year. But guess what buddy? All the 6th graders know that’s not going to happen either. Plan on whining for another 4 years sport.
One can only hope David Petrillo will awaken in Lost Angeles in the coming days. No more blind and mindless are needed in the silver state. Pretty nasty attitude to wish a wars horror on another’s children David.
As good as the Nevada economy is doing, the economy in California is doing far better. It is the world’s fourth biggest economy. California actually has high paying jobs and actually invents things like iPhones, space shuttles, and surfing music. Only smart people can survive in California. The undereducated and the lazy end up in Nevada.
When the labeling and name calling began I knew you had lost the argument. I will never wish harm on you, only enlightenment.
So David, now I’m going to use your own words here..”only the undereducated and lazy people move to Nevada” hmm guess what? You moved here, news flash! Maybe you need to be reminded also that California is a part of the United States, good economy good for U.S. I really got a good laugh about California’s inventions though..Surf music? David, another news flash: The Beatles killed it and it mostly died in the late 60s, you talk like it was a commodity or something. Oh and another news flash: that Iranian General was a very very bad dude, he was 10x worse than old Osama bin “Hiding”.Oh and one other thing, I think Nevadians and especially Mesquite have some of the most hard working, intelligent people of all, so do us all a favor and move back to that hellish hole you came from near Detroit MICHIGAN!
Yes David, California has more high paying jobs. And even with those high paying jobs, people can’t afford homes, or even apartments. Don’t tell me how wonderful it is in California, I lived in orange and L.A. County for 45 years. It was wonderful, but the liberals have destroyed it and sucked the life right out of it. Illegal immigration has completely drained every resource in the state. Anybody with a computer can easily see what has happened in San Francisco. Homeless people everywhere, you can’t even legally keep them from sleeping and defecating on your own property
Two working adults have to take home at least $100K a year to have a chance to own their own home. Then if they do the property taxes and utilities kill their dreams. Don’t tell me how great it still is in California, because I know better. I have a sister there who is a high school teacher that can’t afford to live in the same area she teaches in. My daughter and her husband are very successful business people who make a great living and struggle to own a 100+ year old home in L.A.
And don’t even begin to tell me how great Detroit is, I have life longs friends there who have lost everything and don’t even have save drinking water. They can’t go outside of their house after dark out of fear of being attacked and or shot.
You know I haven’t visited this board in over a year, but here you are still bad mouthing everything about our great city and state every chance you get. So, once again, I have to ask you the same question several others have already asked you. WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE? Why would anyone choose to live somewhere that they proclaim to hate?
Thanks to Trump the deficit is higher than its ever been in the history of this country; what goes up must come down, and we are about to crash…..
Congress is in control of the purse strings and democrats are the majority. It seems the “democrats” are the ones driving the deficit.
Who controlled the purse strings when Obama was blamed for the deficit? Be careful of being labeled a hypocrite.
I believed you were referring to current deficit. You are again resorting to labeling and name calling. Call it quits. You are unable to debate in intelligent terms a subject you chose. If you are a resident of california…maybe you should limit your debate to those elitist which occupy that cesspool you so richly defend. Please refrain from inserting yourself into Nevada politics. You need only look at the consequences of repetitive re-election of the parasites california currently sends to dc. San Francisco sidewalks are lined with your bed linens…sleep in them.
I saw no bed linens while in San Francisco last month. I did see a very diverse and dynamic city that draws visitors from all over the world. Please broaden your news sources as Fox News is the leader in spreading misinformation. Their series targeting California is a joke. I can shoot a video here in Mesquite that will show bed linens and hypodermic needles. Lastly, you should try traveling around our country more often as you would be amazed at how great our cities are.
The deficit goes up every year, period, no matter who’s in the white house. Simple economics. We are not about to crash, the sky is not falling, and there is no boogey man in the closet.
Well OK, dave… I didn’t know who I was talking to. I have been to your cities and have seen them first hand. I don’t believe all the propaganda the networks deal in. I have been to the big sand box and I survived. I don’t believe you are reasonable or worth arguing with.
