The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldog basketball team ran into a hot shooting Moapa Valley High School squad Friday night in the Pirates Den. When the smoke cleared the Dawgs found themselves on the short end of 47-33 scoreboard. The Bulldogs were able to stay with the Pirates in the first period, trailing by a 14-11 score. Alexis Boatwright and Nathalie Lagamayo had all 11 points for the Dawgs. The Bulldogs had zero baskets in the second period, scoring from the free throw line only to fall behind 26-16 after one half of play.

The team’s battled evenly for much of the third period. Boatwright and Areli Ponce led the Bulldogs scoring with 10 of the 12 points scored in the period. The Bulldogs trailed 38-28 after three periods. The Bulldogs managed only 5 points in the final period as they fell 47-33. The Pirates were led by their pin point shooting from the three point line. Boatwright led the Bulldogs with 14 points followed by Lagamayo with 10 points. The Bulldogs will continue play in 2019 in the annual Gator Winter Classic in Las Vegas. They continue 3A Sunrise Play on January 8 hosting Sunrise Mountain.
