On 11/15/19 at approximately 4:40 a.m. Mesquite Police officers responded to a casino for a requested welfare check of a male slumped over in the front seat of a vehicle. The officers observed the male sitting in the driver’s seat was slumped over the center console onto the passenger seat. The officers also observed evidence of illegal and dangerous drug usage inside the vehicle

 The officers were able to wake up the male and check his welfare.  After confirming the male was safe and not in need of medical attention, officers learned the male was in possession of a handgun concealed on his person. The officers were able to safely take the male into custody for dangerous drug and gun charges. He was also found to be in possession of approximately 15 grams of heroin.

Jacob Hancock, 26, of St. George, Utah, was arrested and charged with felony charges of trafficking heroin (14-28 grams), prohibited person in possession of firearm, carry concealed weapon without permit, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Due to the felony charges Hancock was transported to the Clark County Detention Center.
