It started on Nov. 1, Mesquite Police Officers began participating in the second annual No Shave November.

For most of the year the Mesquite Police Department has a strict personal grooming standard that only allows officers to have a mustache. During the No Shave November event officers are allowed to grow a goatee or beard if they make a $100 donation to the event. Officers are also encouraged to gather donations from friends and family to help make this event as successful as possible. The money collected will be donated to those in our community struggling with life-threatening illnesses during the holiday season.

Chief Chesley has set this year’s fundraising goal at $10,000 and if this mark is met the officers will be allowed to keep their facial hair until January 1. “Last year we really enjoyed letting our hair down, so to speak, and raising money for families going through a tremendously difficult time” Chief Chesley said. He continued “our officers will work hard to raise money to keep their beards the rest of the year, but more importantly to bless the lives of those suffering with an illness during the upcoming holiday season.”

Everyone is invited to follow the Mesquite NV Police Facebook page for No Shave November donation tracking, before and after pictures of our officers, and more No Shave November fun.

Donations to the No Shave November cause can be dropped off at the Mesquite Police Department, located at 695 Mayan Circle. Checks should be made payable to the Mesquite Police Department.  For questions regarding this cause or our month long fundraising event please call (702) 346-5262 ext. 6127 or ext. 6155.
