The Beaver Dam High volleyball team got back on the winning track by sweeping Arizona rival Fredonia, 3-0, Friday night at the BDHS Snake Pit.

After opening their season with a victory over El Capitan of Colorado City, AZ, the Lady Diamondbacks went 0-4 at the Dixie Invitational in St. George and were swept 3-0 by Coral Academy of Science in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

“It was nice to get a win,” BDHS head coach Charyn McDonnell said following the match. “We’re still working on consistency and communication.”

One area BDHS was consistent was the passing game. Nancy Lopez led the way with 19 passes for a 2.0 rating.

“I thought our passing was pretty good,” McDonnell said. “I was pleased to see that.”

The Lady Diamondbacks also received solid contributions from other players.

Elizabeth Jensen led the Lady D-Backs with 12 service aces while serving 25-28 overall. Christina Leach was 10-11 serving with four aces.

Shyanne Pierce led the team in kills with five while Lopez came up with four digs. Setter April Snyder recorded 19 assists.

The Lady Diamondbacks, who are now 2-5 overall on the season, will travel to Hilldale, UT on Tuesday to face Water Canyon. BDHS will return home on Friday to host Founders Academy of Las Vegas at 5 p.m. inside the Snake Pit.

Beaver Dam will travel to Sandy Valley on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match against the Lady Sidewinders.
