The VVHS Lady Bulldog softball team went 3-1 for the week ending March 29. The Lady Dogs defeated Western 19-3 on Monday March 25. The Lady Dogs ripped 16 hits led by pitcher Melissa Vanorsdale with three. Emmelie Anguiano had two hits and four RBI’s followed by three RBI’s each off the bats of Taylor Ostrowski, Kaysha Heath and Andrea Ochoa. The Dawgs opened 3A League play with a 7-3 loss to Chaparral on Wednesday March 27. The Cowboys scored early leading 7-0 after four and a half innings before the Lady Dogs rallied in the fifth with 3 runs. The Dogs rebounded Thursday with an easy 12-1 win over Indian Springs and crushed Sunrise Mountain 23-10 in a run fest Friday to end the week. The Lady Dogs led 8-0 after two innings before the Miners scored 7 runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 8-7. The Dogs added five runs in the top of the third before putting the game out of reach with 9 runs in the fourth inning. Kaysha Heath led VVHS with four hits including two round trippers. The win evened their league record at 1-1. The Dogs continue league play on Tuesday April 2 hosting Moapa Valley before traveling to Pahranagat Valley on Wednesday.

VVHS’s track and field squad traveled to Western High School on Wednesday March 26 and had a great meet said coach, Gary Hartman. The girl’s scored 96 points to Westerns 41 and Valley’s 37 points. Leading the way for the Lady Dogs were Macee Bundy with wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, Nikita Eskelsen in the 100 meter hurdles and long jump, Alyssa Ponce with wins in the 1600 meter run and triple jump. Also garnering wins were Cassadee Reber in the pole vault, Calla Haviland in the high jump, Elise Dick in the shot and Julia Ramirez in the 300 meter hurdles.

The Boys won their meet scoring 65 points to Western’s 41 and Valley’s 56. Leading the way for the Dawgs were, Ty Bryant winning the pole vault and 110 meter high hurdles, Taua Fiso in the shot, Braden Bingham in the high jump and Jeremy Perkins in the discus. The Bulldogs will host Moapa Valley and Democracy Prep on Tuesday April 2.
