Don’t miss the Virgin Valley Theatre Group’s World Premier of “Trouble on the Train” or “How the Virgin Valley got its Name” at the Mesquite Community Theatre, 150 N. Yucca St.

This over the top Melodrama, although not historically accurate, is hysterically funny.

This play is an original musical melodrama written by our own Nancy Arnold and Susan Kjellsen as a fund raiser for the Virgin Valley Theater Group, is set in Lizard, Nevada.  Lizard, a one-mule town in the middle of the hot dusty desert, has just one claim to fame: it’s the end of the line for the Bride Train coming in direct from Kansas City.

Penny Less, the heroine of our tale, rides the Bride Train at the behest of her grandfather Digger to solve a puzzling mystery and find her heart’s desire.  In Lizard, she meets the resident sheriff, Rick O’Shea, the town’s madam, Mona Littlemore, and the local banker and dastardly villain, Ewell Rudy Day.  These three along with a cast of zany characters and a few, surprise guest actors, search the town for clues to crack ol’ Digger’s code. Along the way they sing some catchy tunes, attend a screwball wedding, find a hidden treasure, and at last, discover their heart’s desire. (vvtgnv.com)
